MARQUETTE -- The Marquette County Warrior Relief Fund may be a new military support organization, but they're making big waves in their efforts to support casualties and those injured in war.
Monday morning they hosted their first event ever: a four-and-a-half mile walk.
The turnout speaks for itself in terms of how successful the group has been to get the word out.
"We're hoping to get at least 200," said Event Coordinator Amber Krueger. "Something tells me, we're gonna get a little bit more than that. That's pretty good for our first event. I'm really satisfied with all the work that everybody has put into this."
Two separate walking groups met in the middle of the route and held a moment of silence for the fallen.
Fund-raising items for the group, like bracelets and t-shirts, were also sold at the event.
