BIG BAY -- Camping season is well underway for many U.P. parks, including Perkins Park in Big Bay.

This season, the park is welcoming some brand new additions to its grounds.

An upgrade of all utilities, bigger camp sites to accommodate larger trailers, and handicap accessible trails, camps, and walkways down to the lake is in the works.

The whole project costs around $240,000.

"There's also a new security building, a new office building by the front gate so that we can have better security in the park, so far as who's coming and going," said Park Manager, Kim Bourgeois.

The entire renovation project will be completed by the middle of June.
