ESCANABA -- Escanaba machining students in the Computer Numeric Controlled Machine Operator Course at M-TEC at Bay College have now graduated.
The two-month course trained both beginning and experienced students to operate CNC machines. They learned basic blueprint reading and how to safely operate shop machinery. And half of the members in the graduating class have already been offered employment.
Matt Duffin has been working full-time at Stewart Manufacturing for the past month now.
“I didn't really know how to read a blueprint,” said Duffin. “I didn't know how to read calipers or any other measuring device other than a ruler. Now I can read calipers. I know how to run those machines.”
The next batch of students will start class in the next two weeks.
