LANSING -- It looks like the budget cuts for public schools in Michigan will not be as severe as had been feared.
Late Thursday afternoon, Republican leaders in the legislature and Governor Rick Snyder announced a deal that would cut spending by only $100 per pupil instead of $300.
Snyder's original plan called for the $300 cut which upset many educators and parents across the state.
Details of the new plan still need to be worked out, but a vote on the deal will likely take place later this month.
