ISHPEMING -- The Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic may not be for another three months, but organizers are already hard at work preparing for race day.

Last year's race had a record 2,300 bikers, and officials say they already have several hundred racers pre-registered.

The Ore to Shore is in its 12th year and will once again offer their 48-mile Hard Rock course along with the 28-mile Soft Rock course.

New this year is a 10-mile Shore Rock course to act a bridge between the Junior Rock race and Soft Rock, for those who may not be quite ready.

"We're including this new 10-mile race which is requested by several people, feeling the 28-mile race might be a little long so then the 10-mile race will hopefully fill that gap," said Bob Hendrickson of the Ore to Shore.

This year's race is scheduled for August 13.
