It was a day of celebration for two Marquette teens who, Sunday ,were appointed to the United States Military Academy
MARQUETTE -- Sunday at the Jacobetti Center in Marquette, Congressman Dan Benishek appointed Jeremy Demitchell and Christian Ferrini to the United States Military Academy.
It's a very competitive process. Thousands of students apply and less than 20 percent of the applicants are selected.
The two boys received a four-year scholarship to the Air Force Academy. After that, it only takes one year of pilot training school, and then they can be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.
Jeremy says he was proud to be selected because it's his dream come true.
Christian told us he believes he's fulfilling his family's legacy.
Oddly enough, both boys were in the same year in the same high school, a very rare occurance given the thousands of applicants nationwide.
