After almost a full week of warm temperatures, clouds, and rain, the weather pattern has finally changed. We hit a high temperature in the 70s twice last week which is unseasonably warm for the U.P. But the warmer airmass has shifted further to the southeast, and now high pressure is taking control of our weather.
All it took was a change in the winds to see cooler temperatures. This high pressure system to the west, centered in the plains, will bring northerly flow to the area.
We can expect breezy and cool conditions for the rest of the weekend. But at least the sun will be there to help knock off the chill somewhat.
For the beginning of next week, we can look for sunny skies every day. All of the moisture from the low pressure system has traveled south, so there will hardly be any clouds. Our temperatures will slowly moderate back to normal values by Wednesday.
But, the same low pressure system that brought us all of that wet weather last week could make a return near the end of next week. This means that there's a possibility for more rain in the forecast as we look towards Thursday. However, this rain period looks to be shorter than the previous one.
