SAULT STE. MARIE -- The chairman of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians has resigned.  Darwin Joe McCoy announced his decision Tuesday night at the Sault Tribe Board of Director's meeting.

Due to this unexpected resignation, a special advisory election will held.

A date for that has not been set yet.

Until then, board Vice Chairperson Lana Causley will serve as interim chairperson.

McCoy gave no specific reason for his decision to resign other than "circumstances beyond my control."
