MARQUETTE -- The Upper Peninsula rolled out the red carpet for the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers.
Several current and former Packer players were at the Superior Dome to kickoff the team's Tailgate Tour, a once in a lifetime opportunity for many fans. As the Packers walked in, they were serenaded by the familiar song of a champion.
Even though this is their first time in the U.P., an estimated 5,000 fans made sure the Green Bay Packers felt right at home.
"We got the tickets right away, as soon as we could," said Packer fan Jeff Wright. "I couldn't wait to be here, I couldn't wait for this day. I took the whole day off of work."
The focus of the night was on the list of current and former players in attendance, but the real winner was Bay Cliff Health Camp which received all the proceeds from the event.
"We have a base budget that we really need to get by on. This is going to give us a couple of extra things," said Bay Cliff Event Chairman Robert "Buzz" Berube. "It might come out as art supplies, it might be a few more trips. We call our camp not just Bay Cliff, it's called 'Camp Can Do,' and the only reason these kids can do is the experiences that we're able to give them."
And for some of the fans in attendance, the tailgate party ran much deeper than seeing the Super Bowl champs.
"It's amazing," said Packer fan Cody Thetford. "Not just to see all the Packers, because we're such a huge Packer family, but also for my brother who's a Bay Cliff camper. It's really amazing that they're doing this to support Bay Cliff."
For a number of reasons, this is a night that no one will soon forget.
