The game of golf is best enjoyed on a great course, one that's challenging and maintains its own sort of character
MARQUETTE -- Darius Oliver is the author and publisher of "Planet Golf" and "Planet U.S.A." Sunday, he was at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette for a book signing and to tell people about his travels.
Oliver spent more than five years visiting courses around the world, ultimately studying more than 1100 courses in nearly 50 countries.
Monday, he'll be playing the Greywalls course in Marquette, rated as one of the top-100 best in the country.
"That was the idea was to go around the world and put all the famous courses in for sure, but also get the hidden gems that people don't know about," says Oliver. "I'm very passionate about golf architecture, and my sort of stated aim of the business is to make sure that the best designers in golf are also the business because it's currently not the case."
Oliver is from Australia. He's been touring the country with his books for the past two months.
