MARQUETTE -- The annual Blues for Life cancer benefit took place Saturday evening at the Lagniappe Cajun Creole Eatery in downtown Marquette.

Guests enjoyed authentic food provided by Lagniappe.  Live Blues music was provided by Fireside from Iron Mountain, Marquette's Flat Broke Blues Band, and Captain Woody Boogie and the Pirates of Groove from Houghton.

"People in our community really get behind the American Cancer Society, really come out and support this.  Everything is donated," says coordinator Lorrie Hayes.  "It means so much to me, fighting cancer and seeing our community do this kind of thing."

There was also a silent auction and door prizes.

All proceeds raised went to the American Cancer Society for local cancer research and recovery programs.
