MARQUETTE -- Chevrolet is honoring troops around the world in May for Military Appreciation Month.  Frei Chevrolet in Marquette is adding to that mission by collecting incidental items to ship to soldiers overseas.

They're looking to fill a 1985 Chevy Blazer, a genuine U.S. Army vehicle.

The care packages will be going to local soldiers from the 1430th based out of Marquette and Gladstone and the 1775th out of Grand Rapids.

Those at Frei say this is a huge opportunity to give back to the community.

"Especially in this particular situation with the corporation supporting the United States military in May, the dealership support, the family-owned store supporting it, it's a great opportunity to say in a very, very small way, thank you for the people that are doing the jobs; that they are a long way away around the world," said Frei Chevy owner, Jim Grundstrom.

Frei Chevrolet will be collecting items for the next month.  They hope to have all of the items boxed and shipped by the middle of June.
