BREITUNG TOWNSHIP -- Breitung Township schools had some mixed results from its two bond proposals on Tuesday.

Proposal one called for the school district to borrow 5.5 million dollars for building renovations, remodeling, and new technology, which passed by more than 300 votes.

However the hotly debated proposal two, which called for a new synthetic football field and resurfacing the tennis courts, failed by an even wider margin.

While the school was hoping both proposals would pass, Superintendent Craig Allen says proposal one was the necessity.

"I think that people recognized that and, in these times, wanted to make a choice and they obviously chose that these are the important things, the essentials," said Breitung Township School Superintendent, Craig Allen.   "We're going to provide the school with these things and, hey, the other things can wait."

Allen says the school board decided to split the two proposals to give proposal one a better chance of passing.
