Three teenagers were in the vehicle--one teen was killed
WELLS TOWNSHIP -- UPDATE 5:12 p.m. EST
New details are being released this evening about Wednesday night's fatal car accident involving three teens in Wells Township.
One teen was killed, 18-year-old Devin DeGrave of Carney. He was in the front passenger seat
Both the driver and the backseat passenger were 16 year olds from Bark River.
Dane Messersmith was sitting in the back seat.
The driver's name is being withheld pending investigation.
The two surviving teens remain in critical condition, and are being treated for internal injuries at Marquette General Hospital.
The accident happened at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday on Old State Road, also known as 13.75 Road.
The eastbound minivan swerved off the side of the road and landed in a ditch.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but officials say they believe speed was a factor.

The two surviving teens have been transported to Marquette General Hospital with extensive injuries.
Names are being withheld due to the age of the victims and family notification.
The Delta County Sheriff's Department says the car swerved off the road when it reached the top of the hill. According to witness statements, it's believed speed was a contributing factor in the accident.

There was a fatal accident Wednesday evening in Wells Township, west of Escanaba. It happened on Old State Road, also known as 13.75 Road.
At 5:59 p.m., a car traveling eastbound swerved off the side of the road. It crashed into some trees and landed in a ditch.
There were three teenagers in the vehicle. One of the teens was killed. The two other passengers are hospitalized.
The cause of the accident is still unknown at this time.
