ESCANABA -- The Bonifas Art Center in Escanaba is having an auction for the arts, and they're hoping to raise $40,000.  It's called Run for the Arts and is the largest fund-raiser for the entire year.

This week is auction preview week, and there's no charge for people to write down their bids.

Over 240 items are up for the silent auction.  They were offered by local businesses and artists.

Ten items are also up for the live auction, which will be on May 7.

"Well, I think it's going to draw a lot because we have many very unique items," said Beth Mercier of the Bonifas Arts Center.  "Many items are items that you cannot buy; they are from peoples' personal collections.  This fund-raiser will support all of the free tours that we can do for the children."

Tickets for the auction cost $25.  There will also be music, food and a raffle prize.
