GREEN GARDEN -- A Marquette County church is honoring its retiring pastor with a cross, and a big one, at that.

Parishioners from Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Garden hung a 10 foot tall, 60 pound metal cross to honor pastor Reverend Martens, who is retiring in July.

The cross was donated by the pastor's family.  It was hung on the side of the parish's new church hall Wednesday morning

"He's been here for 20 some years and he's been really a great, great pastor, and he was one of the helpful starters to get this new building going for us," said Church President Richard Reader.

The new building will be dedicated on May 22.
