The K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum is in a new location, the corner of Avenue A and Third Street
SAWYER -- It's been nearly two years since the K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum was open for visitors. And Sunday, the museum was able to open its doors again for the beginning of its summer season.
Through donations and fund-raising from supporters all over the country, the museum is now slowly moving into a new location.
Museum directors say this museum is crucial for the area.
"We just want to make sure that the heritage and the history of K.I. Sawyer is not left, is not destroyed or goes away, because anyone who travels through the area or comes back up here is going to ask why it was here," says museum co-director Lani Duquette. "We'd like to be able to maintain the history, the artifacts, and the aircraft and the heritage of K.I. Sawyer."
The museum is located on the corner of Avenue A and Third Street. It's open from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
Duquette adds that he's confident the museum will be open at least through the fall. They're still unsure whether or not they'll be open seasonally.
