MARQUETTE -- It looks as though there will finally be some action on the old Marquette orphanage.

The building last housed children almost 50 years ago and has been vacant since the 1980s.

Officials say an auction of the orphanage will be held next Thursday at 10 a.m. in the lobby of the Marquette County Courthouse.

The city says the current owners of the property have gone into default on the mortgage and have accumulated several fines.  The building, in the meantime, sits in serious disrepair.

The new owners will be required to either bring the building up to code or tear it down.
