MARQUETTE -- Life after prison can be difficult, and many U.P. churches and faith-based communities are striving to do what they can to help those individuals.

A one-day conference was held in Marquette Thursday to educate representatives on the best ways to make a difference.  At least 10 churches from all over the U.P. attended the conference.

They feel if churches don't strive to make a difference now, it just won't happen.

"We don't know the individual in front of us from a sex offender to a shopper lifter to the victim of the crime," said Dave Murrah of U.P. MPRI.  "Everybody is hurting, everybody is in need of support; churches provide that in essence, but the community has to provide that as well."

For more information about the program, you can call (215) 557-4497 or email Dr. W. Wilson Goode, Sr.
