MARQUETTE -- This weekend, the Marquette Senior High School Drama Club is bringing "The Diary of Anne Frank" to life at the Kaufman Auditorium in Marquette.

Anne and her family share tight quarters:  an attic.  And because their discovery could send them to a concentration camp, the tension is palpable.

"There are plenty of laughs in between, but I’ll be honest, it is a sad show, it's a sad story,” said actress Paige Graham.  “We aren't about to sugarcoat it just because of a family audience.”

And because of the subject matter, Director Jeff Spencer says the show isn't for everyone.

"I would say under about eighth grade might be a little too much for them,” said Spencer.  “But anything above that would be perfect."

The two-hour show features more than just students from the Marquette Senior High School Drama Club.

"This time we have students working with adult actors as well,” Spencer said.  “Some people that have graduated from Northern; some people that have done community theatre are playing some of the adult roles."

The actors, young and old, are looking forward to opening night.

"I’m just excited to see how the audience reacts to the sad parts of it,” Graham said.  “I’m excited to see the impact of what we've been working on for such a long time.”

The show will take place this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Kaufman Auditorium in Marquette.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased at NMU EZ ticket outlets or at the door.
