MARQUETTE -- An annual fund-raiser for brain tumor research is bringing a new athletic activity to the area.
Marquette General Hospital is hosting the Hope Starts Here Challenge on May 7. It will be a duathlon. That's a running leg followed by a mountain biking leg, and finally another running leg.
The money raised will go toward the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Research Center, a collaboration project between Marquette General and Northern Michigan University.
"We can give people who have a diagnosis of a brain tumor more hope that there is more work being done to help their situation," said Laurie Neldberg-Weesen of Marquette General.
They're hoping to have at least 300 participants this year.
The registration fee will be discounted until April 29.
