MARQUETTE -- AT&T wireless customers may have noticed a change in their service as the company launched its 3G network Friday.
The updated mobile broadband network will provide enhanced speeds for wireless customers in the Marquette and Ishpeming area.
The 3G network is based on the third generation partnership project family of technologies that include the GSM platform.
Employees at the AT&T store in Marquette say they have already heard positive comments from customers.
"Well, all off us here at AT&T are very pleased to bring America's fastest mobile broadband network to the greater Marquette area," said Tom Rae of AT&T. "I had a chance to talk to quite a few of our customers here in the store today and clearly there's a lot of enthusiasm for our residents, our business owners and our students as well."
AT&T employees say the biggest advantage of 3G is the ability of customers to make phone calls while surfing the web simultaneously.
