L'ANSE -- Jesse Lindlbauer, a freshmen at L'Anse Junior-Senior High School, and a few of his friends got together and decided they needed to build a skate park because there was nowhere in L'Anse to skateboard.
They decided to hold pancake breakfasts and ask for donations from their community. The response was overwhelming. The students ended up raising over $4,000, which is enough to buy equipment to open the park in L'Anse.
They said it felt good to receive so much support from community members.
"It made me feel good just knowing that people do care about other sports other than school sports," said Lindlbauer.
The students say the park will be up and running by the end of May.
