Exceptional volunteers were honored at Westwood Mall
MARQUETTE TWP -- The weather may have been cold and icy outside, but the inside of the Westwood Mall was full of warm personalities: groups of Marquette County volunteers.
Those who have dedicated hours of their time to their communities were honored Saturday afternoon at the 15th annual Marquette County Outstanding Volunteer Awards.
Plaques were distributed to exceptional volunteers in youth, adult, senior and pet categories.
"It's critical that we have volunteers who will step up to the plate and do the work that needs to be done with non-profits in the area, so the awards are an opportunity for us to really recognize not just the award winning volunteers because they really do do wonderful things," said Linda Remsburg with the Great Lakes Center for Youth Development.
The ceremony gave all volunteers the opportunity to mingle with refreshments and a silent auction.
