UPPER PENINSULA -- After a week where the temperature changes seemed like a roller-coaster ride, it appears winter has a few last words before spring finally begins to settle in.
Earlier this week, many areas across the U.P. saw temperatures in the 60s and even 70s. Those kinds of temperatures are certainly above normal for this time of year. For early April, the normal daytime high temperature is actually only in the upper 40s.
A strong low pressure system moves through the area this weekend, and already many regions of the U.P. are feeling the effects of it. Snow in mid-April...not a situation that many areas of the country are familiar with.
Most of the frozen precipitation should stay to the west of Marquette county, and it's mostly rain showers for the eastern half of the U.P. With this snow, the temperatures have now fallen below normal yet again. Yesterday's high barely scratched 30 degrees.
Eventually, spring-like weather will get here. The keyword is "eventually." After we're done with several periods of snow showers through Wednesday, our temperatures will begin to return to more normal values.
