MARQUETTE -- Face to face interaction with a Marquette City official may now be as easy as a computer mouse click.

Marquette City Manager Bill Vajda is inviting citizens to contact him through his Skype account with questions, concerns or just to say hello.

Skype is a free computer software program allowing users to make voice and video calls over the internet.

Vajda plans to leave his account logged in, and make his Skype account just another piece of office equipment.

Skype makes the connection more personal." said Vajda via Skype.  "I know that people tune their ears over the time we've had the telephone to try to figure out what the people's emotions are or what they might be thinking on the other end of the phone, but there is an awful lot of unspoken communication that goes on between people just when thy're face to face meeting."

Vajda says so far, he's been able to interact with former Marquette residents and military members serving overseas.
