MARQUETTE -- The fictional fantasy of Peter Pan tells the tale of a little boy who never wants to grow up.
"It's one of the greatest mythologies of the world, it's one of those stories that everybody knows and everyone loves, and I'm just glad to be part of it," says Timmy Grams, who is playing the role of Captain Hook.
Peter Pan flies into the nursery of the Darling children: Wendy, John, and Michael.
He takes them to the island of Neverland - a magical, mysterious place with lost boys, mermaids, Indians, fairies, and pirates.
"It allows us to jump into our imagination, to see the world, the world that's presented to us, and put a little spin on it," says Michael Doak, otherwise known as Peter Pan.
There's been so many versions of this fable, from Disney to Broadway to feature films.
So what makes this stage production being done by Northern students any different?
"Peter Pan in this is a little bit more wild, he's very untamed, and because of that it adds a little bit of a unique element to this particular production, which is really fun," Doak laughs.
"Everyone has their own separate little pieces of insanity that they bring to it," adds Grams.
Arguably the most challenging part of the play will be flight.
Flying is a huge part of 'Peter Pan' and during the past month and a half, the cast and crew have been perfecting their flight performance.
Peter Pan will be performed here at N.M.U.'s Forest Roberts Theatre Wednesday night through Saturday.
All shows are at 7:30 p.m., with an additional matinee Saturday afternoon at one.
