During a tough economy everyone is working a little harder to make ends meet . . . and that doesn't exclude sports teams.
MARQUETTE -- Saturday, the Northern Michigan football team was doing their part to raise funds to support their operating costs.
Team members were outside of Super One Foods, Kohls, and Econo Foods in Marquette to help get the word out about their N.M.U. football Lift-a-Thon!
The Lift-a-Thon will be held at the Vandament Arena Friday April 15 from 7 to 9 p.m.
"Everyone is going to do the bench, is going to do 225 as many times as they can," says player Price Burton. "Certain people, if they're trying to break records in the squat or the clean, they're going to do that as well, but for the most part everyone's going to be benching to do 225's as many times as they can."
The event is free to the public; however, the team is hoping people will come to make donations and cheer them on as they lift.
They have a lofty goal of raising $31,000.
