Wells Fargo announces job cuts

It's unclear if the U.P. will be affected by Wells Fargo's decision to cut 1,900 jobs nationwide.

Most of the job losses are in the bank's Mortgage Application Centers, and a majority of those are temporary hires.

Wells Fargo officials say the layoffs are necessary due to a decrease in the number of home mortgage applications.

Five U.P. branch banks are scheduled to close next week.
