HOUGHTON -- A Hancock man who admitted to participating in a Houghton County home invasion will be spending more time behind bars.

Twenty-four-year-old Ian Berryman was sentenced to five months in jail Monday afternoon.

Berryman pled guilty in March to breaking and entering with intent for his part in a rash of break-ins that occurred late last year.

Prior to sentencing, Berryman told the court of his desire to put the crime behind him.

“This was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made in my life, and I’ve made very few,” said Berryman.  “I just want to get back to my daughter.  I have her three days a week, and it's hurting her and her mom, as far as child support goes.”

Berryman will receive credit for 36 days served.  He was also sentenced to two years probation.
