For a kid interested in scouting, there's a lot to learn in order to move up in rank.
MARQUETTE -- Over the weekend, more than 100 scouts from around the Upper Peninsula attended the Boy Scout Merit Badge College at the Jacobetti Technical Center. There were activities for Boy Scouts both young and old.
Adult leaders also attended a training session.
The Jacobetti Center had a lot of the special equipment needed for the merit badges, like electronics, engineering, and fingerprinting.
"It gives a chance for not only the scouts, but also their parents to bring a group of scouts together to work on special things, like, you say, all under one roof," says event chairman Mark Matteson. "Having the Eagle Scout required badges helps to keep a scout on track for the Eagle rank."
Scouts can earn merit badges year-round.
