MARQUETTE -- Former United States Ambassador Joseph Wilson spoke on the NMU campus Tuesday night about his time working for the Bush administration and the outing of his CIA agent wife, Valerie Plame.
Wilson made headlines as an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq, which he says led to the Bush administration leaking his wife's name as an undercover CIA agent.
Wilson talked about his experience and subsequent legal actions against the Bush administration. He also spoke about the importance of participating and watching the government.
"Democracy and governance in our country should not be a spectator sport, and if you're going to be a couch potato on this, then you really shouldn't be surprised with some of the decisions that are made that may be inconsistent with your own views on the things you think are important to our country," said Wilson. "So my message is generally to people is you can fight city hall and survive, and I stand here as an example of that."
Wilson's presentation was sponsored by the NMU Platform Personalities.
