ESCANABA -- Delta County Central Dispatch received calls about four separate grass and brush fires throughout the county on Tuesday.

The largest of the fires was a 10 to 15 acre grass fire in Wells Township.  That fire occurred near 18th Road and J Road.  Both Escanaba Public Safety and Escanaba Township Fire Department were still clearing the scene of the fire around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

There was also a brief brush fire in the City of Escanaba, according to Escanaba Public Safety.  The other fires were fought by local fire departments.

The City of Escanaba Department of Public Safety reminds residents that, even with allowed burning by the DNR, there needs to be extra caution taken when burning.
