MARQUETTE -- Did you know that you can tell which nutrients are in foods by their color?

That was the point of Monday's "Eat Right With Color" event.

In honor of National Nutrition month, Marquette General and the Marquette Food Co-op teamed up to educate the community on the importance of a nutrient rich diet.  Their advice was to eat foods with a wide range of colors.

For example, they say blue or purple foods are packed with antioxidants, and orange or yellow foods reduce age-related macular degeneration.

"If you want to eat foods that are going to zero in on something, a health problem or a health concern, you can go right to certain foods and know exactly what they're going to benefit," said MGH Registered Dietician, Patricia Smith.

After the speaker, the group watched a demonstration on how to make spring rolls with some very colorful vegetables.
