LITTLE LAKE -- It's been two-and-a-half years in the making and Saturday night, American Legion Post 349 in Little Lake unveiled a drop box that allows the general public to drop off their unserviceable flags.

Three hundred members and their families came to celebrate.

The drop box is an old mailbox that was prepped and repainted.  It will allow the general public to have a convenient location to get rid of their unwanted flags in a proper manner.

"We'll take them out on a weekly or monthly basis, and then on Flag Day, we'll dispose of the flags appropriately with all the honors that flags deem," says Richard Wood of the American Legion.

The drop box will be placed outside of the American Legion Post 349 in Little Lake.

Work will begin on moving the drop box outside as soon as the snow melts.
