ISHPEMING -- One community company is stepping up after officials from Bell Hospital recently announced a seven million dollar loss in the last fiscal year.
On Friday, employees from Perkins Construction were putting a roof onto the haz-mat storage facility at Bell Hospital. They had previously helped with the initial framing, and Friday put the finishing touches on the roof, donating all of the labor and materials.
The storage unit is used by emergency room personnel.
The project seemed like an appropriate way to help out the hospital.
"This is our local hospital. We're from Ishpeming and Bell Hospital is in Ishpeming and it's a beautiful facility, and we felt it was a good time to express our support for this hospital," said owner Dan Perkins. "You never know when you'll need a hospital, and it's certainly good to have one locally, especially a good facility like this one."
The roofing project was completed in one day.
The crew got started Friday morning around 8 a.m. and had planned to be finished by the early afternoon.
