Randy Van Gasse will step down June 30
NORWAY -- Norway Superintendent Randy Van Gasse announced his resignation at Monday's school board meeting. He's been in education for 36 years, spending 11 of those as Norway's superintendent.
Van Gasse says his decision was in no way influenced by the controversy surrounding principal Brad Grayvold, who pled guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence in September.
Van Gasse says he struggled with the decision to step down.
"It really didn't seem like the right decision until I walked out of that board meeting," said Van Gasse. "A great weight had been lifted from my shoulders because it was a hard decision to make, but once I had made it, it felt good."
Van Gasse says he has no future plans at the moment.
He will officially step down June 30.
