Latest news, weather, high school sports for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

U.P. school nets two AP sports honors

BAY CITY (AP) -- Senior point guards Drew Janer of Bay City All Saints and Jordan Chartier of Eben Superior Central are the Associated Press Class D Co-Players of the Year.

Janer led All Saints to its first-ever Greater Thumb West basketball title, and Chartier has played a leading role in helping the Cougars to the Central Upper Peninsula Conference crown and a second straight Class D regional title.

Joining Janer and Chartier on this year's Class D All-State first team are Fulton's Tyler Walden, Pellston's Christopher Hass, Wyoming Tri-unity Christian's Durant Vega, Mason County Eastern's Lucas Landis, Marcellus Howardsville Christian's Randy Moore, Carsonville-Port Sanilac's Calvin Amey, Marine City Cardinal Mooney's Garrison Glowniak and Chassell's Joe Larson.

Chartier's father, Cary Chartier of Eben Superior Central, is the Class D Coach of the Year.
