The U.S. senator agrees with President Obama's decisions in Libya
MARINETTE, WI -- U.S. Senator Carl Levin arrived late to Marinette Marine Friday to honor the ship building company's contract awards, but he had a good reason.
Levin was in a briefing with President Obama Friday morning concerning the no fly zone in Libya. The senator commended the President's caution and understanding of the situation in Libya and our country's role there.
"He said it's going to be time limited," said Levin. "It's going to be limited in terms of its goals and its mission for the U.S., and then basically it's going to be very carefully defined so there's not going to be mission creep; so we're not going to get in deeper and deeper into an Arab country."
Levin says the U.S. will lead a coalition of allied forces to enforce the no fly zone in Libya, but will let other countries take over after a few weeks.
