IRON MOUNTAIN -- With the economy still rebounding, the Dickinson County Library is looking to help high school girls with the very exciting, and expensive, prom season.
For the second year in a row, the Dickinson County Library is holding a Prom Dress Swap. Local girls are asked to donate lightly used dresses, shoes, and accessories. During the swap, girls can choose a dress, free of charge, with those who donated getting first choice.
Last year, 150 dresses were donated, and organizers are hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.
"It's a wonderful opportunity because it allows the girls to know that the library is here to provide for them, and it allows girls, especially who maybe don't have the money, to buy another dress or maybe couldn't afford to go to the prom before to have the opportunity to attend the dance," said Amanda Gribbs of the Dickinson County Library.
The Prom Dress Swap is March 12 from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library.
Donations will be accepted up to the start of the event.
