Manistique stabbing leaves one dead

MANISTIQUE -- Update 5:00 p.m. EST

Formal charges were not filed against the suspect of an alleged stabbing death on Thursday.

An arraignment is scheduled for around 9 a.m. on Friday morning.

A 26-year-old male Manistique resident was found dead after a stabbing incident which occurred late Wednesday night in Manistique.  Officers were called to the scene around 12:01 a.m. Thursday morning.

Investigation determined that a 21-year-old Manistique man was allegedly responsible for the stabbing, according to Manistique Public Safety.

The suspect was found at the scene and was taken into custody and charged with felony murder.  He's being held at the Schoolcraft County Sheriff's Department without bond.

It's expected that the Schoolcraft County Prosecutor will file formal charges Thursday. 

Names of the victim and the suspect are not being released at this time.
