MARQUETTE -- With the Copper Dog 150 and the U.P. 200, it's obvious that the sport of mushing is really growing in popularity.
So Sunday, it only seemed fitting that an Alaskan musher, who is originally from the Soo, share her story with community members at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
Pam Flowers is also an author, and her latest book, Alone Across the Arctic, chronicles her 2,500 mile journey with her sled dog team across Alaska and Canada.
"I want them to see that somebody who didn't have any resources, was a very ordinary person, had a very big dream; nobody was willing to help me, but I made my dream come true," says Flowers.
The book is available at the library. It was published in 2001, but Flowers says it's gone through several reprints, the next one of which is in two weeks.
