CRYSTAL FALLS -- A Crystal Falls man is recovering after jumping off of the Paint River Bridge on Thursday.

According to the Crystal Falls Police Department, they were alerted to a possibly suicidal subject around 3:08 p.m. CST.  In response, they sent officers to the area of North 6th Street and Fairbanks Road.

As police approached, the 19-year-old subject jumped over the railing of the bridge and plunged into the river.  He fell about 25 feet into the water, receiving minor injuries.  He was pulled from the river by officers and taken by Northstar Ambulance to Northstar Hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Iron County Sheriff's Department, Michigan DNR, and Crystal Falls Fire Department.
