MARQUETTE COUNTY -- A trooper from the Michigan State Police Post in Negaunee will be honored later this month as the Marquette County Police Officer of the Year.
The Marquette County Law Enforcement Administrator's Association (MCLEAA) has chosen Trooper Christopher MacMaster as the 2010 recipient.
MacMaster has been chosen due to his work in helping to solve several break-ins in Marquette County and other counties in the U.P.
Three cases were highlighted by the MCLEAA. First, working with the Chocolay Township Police Department, confessions from several suspects for a break-in of a church were obtained.
In the second instance, MacMaster assisted in investigating a series of break-ins that took place in Alger, Delta and Marquette Counties. With his help, again confessions were obtained from two suspects, and many stolen items were recovered. Both suspects were arrested.
Finally, through his efforts, a series of break-ins of camps in Western Marquette County were solved. Once again, MacMaster was instrumental in getting confessions from several suspects. They were arrested and many pieces of stolen property were recovered.
Tpr. MacMaster will be honored on March 9, during a presentation in the Charcoal Room of the University Center at Northern Michigan University.
Brief Biography:

From 1995-2005, he was assigned to the Sault Ste. Marie post. He served as a polygraph examiner at the State Police Crime Lab in Marquette from 2005-2007.
