MARQUETTE -- The nationwide campaign helps people become a bigger part of their local YMCA.

In Marquette County, the Strong Kids Campaign kicks off next week.

Last year the Y was able to raise enough money for scholarships for 800 people, which is the equivalent of about $130,000.

This year's goal is $120,000.

"To get healthy, to get fit, to have social, emotional support, and be part of the Y," says CEO Lisa Coombs-Gerou.  "Last year our recipients, the average income was $15,800, so there are a number of folks in our community who need the support."

If you'd like more information about how to donate to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign in Marquette County, you can visit their website, or call the office at (906) 227-9622.
