The YMCA is a non-profit organization that fund-raises all year-long, but their Strong Kids Campaign every spring is a time where they really make a push for donations
MARQUETTE -- The nationwide campaign helps people become a bigger part of their local YMCA.
In Marquette County, the Strong Kids Campaign kicks off next week.
Last year the Y was able to raise enough money for scholarships for 800 people, which is the equivalent of about $130,000.
This year's goal is $120,000.
"To get healthy, to get fit, to have social, emotional support, and be part of the Y," says CEO Lisa Coombs-Gerou. "Last year our recipients, the average income was $15,800, so there are a number of folks in our community who need the support."
