$6 million big
IRON MOUNTAIN -- A major expansion project will soon be underway at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
Starting March 1, the VA will be renovating and expanding its outpatient clinic.
The nearly $6 million, 14,000 square foot project will add a second story to the current facility. Also a new women's veterans clinic will be added as part of the project.
The new outpatient clinic is expected to improve privacy for patients and be more efficient.
"I think the changes will be not only visibly seen, but it will be palpable as you walk through the facility," said VA Associate Medical Director William Caron. "Just the way the entrance and the patient flow will occur after the project's completed. We're anticipating 10 to 12 months after our kickoff date and it will make a very big difference."
Once the project begins, the current outpatient clinic will be moved to the fourth and fifth floors.
