Bad check case update

HOUGHTON -- A Houghton woman accused of writing thousands of dollars worth of bad checks was arraigned in Houghton County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Jennifer Nettell, 28, is facing multiple felony charges.  They include six counts of uttering and publishing, two counts of writing a check against a closed account, and one count of common law fraud.

Not guilty pleas were entered on Nettell's behalf during her arraignment.

A pretrial hearing will be scheduled for sometime in the next 30 days.

If convicted, she could receive up to 14 years in prison.
