ALGER COUNTY -- Casey Trobridge, who was found guilty of ethnic intimidation, will be headed to jail this week.
Trobridge will serve the first 45 days of his nine-month sentence in Alger County Jail starting Friday. He will be on 18-month probation after his 45 days in jail. The remainder of the sentence will be expunged if Trobridge completes his probation.
Trobridge's lawyer, Derek Swajanen, argued that the original recommendation of 60 days in jail was unfair, since the co-defendant Max Fisher was sentenced to serve just one month immediately.
"I thought the sentencing was very proportionate to the other co-defendant that was sentenced," said Swajanen.
Trobridge and Fisher had both been charged with threatening Sean andTara Lewis, a biracial couple, last summer.
During Trobridge's trial he admitted threatening Tara Lewis, but only after she verbally harassed him.
