KEWEENAW BAY -- Twenty-three ice shacks are floating on the ice in Keweenaw Bay after a record warm spell.
The shacks are surrounded by water, inaccessible to anyone. Several are in the bay but some have floated out to open water according to Steve Koski, owner of Indian Country Sports.
The ice broke up due to the recent warm spell, which was followed by a quick cool down and brisk winds.
"It has happened before," said Koski. "Just recently about 20 shacks floated out onto the bay."
