MARQUETTE COUNTY -- There was an incident of a missing musher reported in the Midnight Run sled dog race Friday night.

Marquette County Deputies, along with Marquette County Search and Rescue, were called out for the missing team at approximately 11 p.m.

Thirty-four-year-old musher, Gregory Cameron of Rutherglen, Ontario, had crossed Marquette County Road 480 with his team around 9 p.m., headed north.

When Cameron failed to arrive at the next checkpoint, the Marquette County Sheriff's Department was alerted.  A teammate alerted race judges that Cameron's emergency locator beacon had been activated.  GPS coordinates were passed on to Sheriff's Deputies who located the musher northwest of Lindberg's gravel pit at around 11:30 p.m.

Other than being a bit cold, Cameron needed no medical attention and his dogs were picked up by a teammate without incident.
